Listening to the Master is like listening to a big floor standing speaker, but with all the benefits of perspective and sound imaging intact! |
General Note: A Crossover Network should never be complicated. If that is called for it must be because we have chosen drivers out of match or the wrong kind of cabinet size/ tuning! |
The calculations for component values however, it is almost never possible to get right with just a calculator. At FreQuence we have a few simple formulas to kick off the project and after that, computer measuring, golden ears and common sense takes over. We have no "religion" for a specific filter type or cabinet system, but chooses freely what is optimal for the desired speaker in play. |
The Master crossover is no different. Just a corrected 2. - and 3. order network. The 3. order goes to the tweeter and the 2. order to the woofer. |
The important thing is that you get the values right. Not only mH for the tweeter coils, but also the impedance in the coils used for this speaker. |
As standard we have chosen good combinations without going crazy on the silver coils and all silver caps - but a fine well balanced network. |
We guarantee you will get a unique monitor there is truly state of the art and ranking only with the absolute elite of transducer driven speakers existing to day. |

Also on this 2009 version a selection of capacitors and coils was tried out. The chosen combination provide outstanding result and still there are money left for a good bottle of vine. |

Frequency response (2007 version. 2009 to be uploaded). |
Crossover frequency: Almost no visible sign of the two drivers meeting. A perfect roll off from both drivers and the school example of a -6 dB meeting point for the drivers at roughly 2800 Hz. It doesn't become much more perfect. (2009 version: 2440 Hz X-Over). |
